Belgian Dubbel (Abbey Ale)
ABV 6.5% 23 IBU
Born in the Trappist Abbey’s of Belgium, dubbels were originally brewed by monks and among other styles served as a source of nutrients during fasting. Eventually these brews were bottled and sold to support the abbey’s self-sufficiency and fund their works.
This moderately strong, complex Belgian ale is chewy with rich malt, fresh dark fruit and caramel flavours, most notably raisins, prunes, and dates. Balanced bitterness leaves a malty but dry finish. The yeast gives it a spicy profile with some balanced fruit.
Key ingredients: Beet sugar, Abbey Ale Yeast and five malt blend.
